His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has congratulated Governor Darius Ishaku on his victory in the February 28th Governorship election in Taraba State.
This was signed and released by Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, Press Secretary to the Adamawa state Governor.
Governor Fintiri said Darius Ishaku deserved the victory given his widespread acceptance across the state.
The Adamawa state Governor said that Wednesday’s judgement of the Supreme Court which affirmed the electoral victory of Gov. Ishaku has further demonstrated that his election was indeed a true reflection of the wishes of the people of Taraba state.
His Excellency advised Governor Darius Ishaku to extend a hand of fellowship to the opposition in Taraba state and dedicate himself to re-uniting the people and be the Governor to all.
“The path is now clear for focused piloting of the State’s affairs towards lifting Taraba higher in his last term as Governor, etching his name in gold as one who changed the negative narrative of Taraba”.
Speaker of the Taraba state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Joseph Kunini on Thursday congratulated the state governor Darius Ishaku and his deputy Alh. Haruna Manu over Wednesday Supreme Court ruling which dismissed the appeal of the All Progressive Congress challenging the result of the last governorship election in the state.
The Speaker who spoke to our correspondent on the phone said that the victory at the Apex Court is a reaffirmation of the mandate of the people and prove that democracy is gradually taking deeper roots in the country with the judiciary enjoying relative independence.
Kunini said that with the distraction caused by the case permanently laid to rest now, the governor would focus his whole attention on delivering his rescue blueprint.
“Let me first of all congratulate the state governor Darius Ishaku and his deputy as well as the entire PDP family in the state over this huge victory at the apex court.
“For some of us, this is not coming as a surprise because it is clear all along that the people overwhelmingly gave their mandate to the governor and there is no way anyone can go round and collect this mandate through the back door.”
“The good thing is that this whole thing is now put to rest and the governor can once again focus his whole attention on delivering his rescue agenda blueprint without unnecessary distraction.”
“Let me also call on the people yo set aside political differences and join hands with this government to build a Taraba of our dream.”
“We have the potential to make the state the envy of the nation. All that is needed is for us to set aside our differences and work for the common good of the state rather than our individual or sectional interests” Kunini said.
On his part, State Commissioner of Youths and Sports Alh. Ibrahim Imam has described the Supreme Court victory of Governor Darius Ishaku and his deputy Alh. Haruna Manu as a victory for democracy and the entire people of Taraba.
In an interview with our correspondent in Jalingo, Imam said that the era of politicking is over and it is important for people to come together to develop the state.
Imam said that Taraba was for all and the good of the good was more important than any other interests and urged the people to give the governor the needed support to achieve the much needed development.
Mallam Isah Baba from Sabon Gari Jalingo, described the victory as God’s new year gift to the people of Taraba and called on all to support the Governor to succeed.
