The transition committee set up to prepare for the second term inauguration of Governor Darius Ishaku has urged the Governor to prioritize security, agriculture among others in his second term in office.
Chairman of the transition committee, Amb. Idris Waziri at a press briefing in Jalingo on Tuesday said the committee, after taking stock of the achievements of the Governor in his first term recommended improvements in Security, Agriculture, Education and Technology for the good of the state.
“Agriculture alone has employed over 80 percent of the population of the state, so the committee feels that giving attention to agriculture will boost the economy of the state.”
“The state also need improvement in education and technology to be able to keep abreast with the challenges civilization and technological advancements.”
Waziri said the elections were over and the people of the state should join hands with the Governor to move the state forward.
He called on all to eschew bitterness and not indulge in things that will rather take the state backwards.
“We must say no to violence and never again shall we take arms against one another. We must not because of our personal ambitions bring violence in the state”.
“God gives power to whom he wishes and only one person can be a Governor of Taraba at a time.
“Political parties are mere platforms for the purposes of contesting elections and now that elections are over, I want to appeal to all politicians to support the governor for the good of Taraba,” he appealed.
Our correspondent reports that activities for the inauguration began with a Jumat prayer on Friday and a Church service on Sunday.
