The Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Jalingo was established in October, 1992 and is headed by 2 principals, Mrs. Lilly M. Gumfe- Midwifery, and Mr. Kiloh Nfor- Nursing.

Functions of the College:

The functions of the College include;

  • Training of student Nurse.
  • Training of student Midwifery.
  • Training of Remedial students.

Achievements of the College:

The College have made the following achievements which are given below;

  1. Enabling Law for establishment of College of Nursing and Midwifery.
  2. Graduated 1,216 Nurses since inception.
  3. Graduated 158 Midwives since inception.
  4. Relocation to the College Permanent site.
  5. Establishment of School of Remedial in 2014.
  6. Re-commencement of training of student nurses.
  7. Re-commencement of training of student midwives.
  8. Purchase of training equipment and furniture.
  9. Increase in manpower (staff strength).
  10. Training and re-training of staff (in-service course).

The Provost

Mr. Kiloh Nfor is the Provost, School of Nursing, Jalingo. He was born on 11th October, 1957 and hails from Sardauna Local Government Area. He is married with two (2) children.

Mr. Kiloh started his educational career at Mansur Primary School, Gembu from 1964-1970 and proceeded to Government College, Maiduguri from 1971-1975. He further enrolled into the School of Nursing, Maiduguri from 1976-1979, School of Psychiatric Nursing, Aro-Abeokuta from 1980-1981, Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka from 1981-1982, University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1999-2004 and University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 2005-2011.

Awards Received:

He received a Merit Award as the Hidden Treasure and the Award of Excellence as the Eye of the Community.

Workshops Attended:

He also attended the following workshops;

  1. Training of Trainers workshop, organized by Family Health International at Ibadan – July-August, 2003.
  2. Management Health System organized by Taraba State Government in Jalingo – June, 22nd-24th, 1998.
  3. Aids/S.T.D Sexually Transmitted Disease organized by F.M.H at Makurdi – 30th October-2nd November, 1990.
  4. The Nurses Role in Applied Research in Primary Health Care organized by University of Benin – 11th-16th September, 1988.

His Publications include;

The Principal

Rev. Mrs. Lilly Monica Gumfe is the Principal, School of Midwifery. She was born on 26th November, 1952 and hails from Sardauna Local Government Area. She is a widow with four (4) children.

She began her educational pursuit at First Baptist Primary School, Minna-Niger state from 1958-1965 and then proceeded to St. Louis College, Jos from 1966-1969 and St. Fatima Secondary School from 1969-1971 after which she enrolled into the School of Nursing, Maiduguri from 1974-1978, School of Midwifery, Sokoto from 1981-1982, Kaduna Polytechnic from 1993-1995, University of Calabar from 2001-2002 and National Open University of Nigeria from 2005-2015.

Awards Received:

She has received the following Awards;

  • Century Continental Legacy Makers Award (CCLEMA)-2011.
  • Nigeria Merit Gold Award (NMGA)-2012.
  • Institute of Human and Natural Resources “Fellow”-2003.
