Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku has decried the dismantling of roadblocks in the state, describing it as unfortunate.

He disclosed this in Government House Jalingo when he received the General Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division of the Nigeria Army, Major General A. Nuhu who was in his office on a courtesy call.

He lamented that at a time when campaign for the forthcoming general elections was almost at its peak, it would only be logical to allow roadblocks to track miscreants and unscrupulous elements.

Governor Darius Ishaku told the GOC that he inherited a State that was overridden by robbery, cattle rustling, tribal clashes and later herdsmen and farmers clashes but expressed satisfaction that the state was now enjoying relative peace.

The Governor promised to build a military base at Maku, Lau Local Government Area and also rehabilitate the Army Day Primary and Secondary School in Serti, Baruwa Barracks.

Commenting, Major General A. Nuhu said he was in the State for an operational assessment of personnel under his command.

He stated that his tenure would hinge on three pillars which includes welfare, integrity and to observe code of conduct as well as improve civil military relationship.

General Nuhu commended Governor Ishaku for his cooperation with the Nigerian Army and promised to support him.
